Alan Partridge to return in Alpha Papa sequel
...and a Coast parody for Sky
Alan Partridge is to return to cinemas in a sequel to his Alpha Papa movie – and is making a Coast-style spoof travelogue for Sky.
Steve Coogan’s creation may also return for a new series of Mid-Morning Matters, a televised version of his fictional radio show on North Norfolk Digital.
The news was confirmed today by Henry Normal, co-founder of Coogan's production company Baby Cow.
He said that writing was starting on the Sky special – ‘a little bit like Coast with Alan Partridge, except I don't think he goes out of Norfolk’ – ready for filming in the summer.
Speaking at an Advertising Week event in London, Normal added that Partrigde had been given a new lease of life the first Sky specials, which were made on the back of a Mid-Morning Matters series that sponsors Foster’s funded for the internet.
‘Steve wanted to do other things,’ he said. ‘You do get with Alan, if they are sitting in a room long enough, they do get “Alan mad”. Alanageddon.’
Actor Simon Greenall, who plays Partridge’s friend Geordie Michael, had previously suggested there would be another film and that it will be set ‘in and around Norwich – it has to be.’
