Bill to make a new sitcom for NBC

Bill Cosby is to make a comeback in a new family sitcom.

More than 20 years after The Cosby Show ended its run, the comedian has reunited with his former producer to make a new series for NBC.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 76-year-old will play the patriarch of a multi-generational family.

Two moths ago, Cosby spoke of wanting to return to TV, telling Yahoo there was a gap in the market for his warm-hearted humour.

He said: 'There is a viewership out there that wants to see comedy, and warmth, and love, and surprise, and cleverness, without going into the party attitude. They would like to see a married couple that acts like they love each other, warts and all, children who respect the parenting, and the comedy of people who make mistakes. Warmth and forgiveness.'

The Cosby Show, which ran from 1984 to 1992,was one of the most-watched series of all time. Its finale attracted 44.4million viewers in the US. Here's a clip:
