Michael McIntyre becomes chat show host

New series for BBC One

Michael McIntyre is to host his own BBC One chat show.

The corporation has ordered six 45-minute episodes of The Michael McIntyre Chat Show to air this spring.

It will be made by Open Mike Productions, the sister company of comedy agents Off The Kerb, which also represents McIntyre as well as fellow chat show host Jonathan Ross.

The comic said: 'From my very first conversation I remember thinking, "This should be televised!"

'Well now the British Broadcasting Corporation has made my dream a reality. I am overwhelmingly excited about meeting and having fun with my favourite celebrated people on The Michael McIntyre Chat Show.'

BBC One controller Charlotte Moore added: 'Michael McIntyre is one of the country's leading comedians and I'm thrilled he will be bringing his own unique flavour to a brand new chat show for BBC One.'
