Over the Moone!

International Emmy for Chris O'Dowd's comedy

Moone Boy won the international Emmy for comedy in New York last night.

Chris O’Dowd, who writes and stars in the Sky 1 show, collected the award with his co-writer Nick Vincent Murphy and said: 'Even in the wildest imaginations of our imaginary friends we never imagined we'd win an International Emmy. Such an honour.'

Sky's head of comedy, Lucy Lumsden, added: 'Moone Boy has been a tremendous success story... I’m delighted that Chris, Nick and the team have been presented with this richly deserved award.'

The series will return in the new year, with Martin Moone starting secondary school in 1990. Johnny Vegas will be back as the imaginary friend Crunchie Haystacks with Simon Day and Amy Huberman taking on guest roles.

Also nominated for the Emmy was Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola from South Africa, France's Workinggirls and How To Enjoy The End Of The World from Brazil
