Chat show for Russell Kane

Plus news of other BBC Three comedies

Russell Kane is to host a new BBC Three chat show alongside Radio 1’s Greg James.

The pair have previously co-presented the series Unzipped, about life in Britain, and have now been commissioned for eight 45-minute episodes of Staying In With Greg & Russell.

The BBC says the pair ‘have decided to take their bromance to the next level and are moving in together to host their very own chat show... The show will be set in a surreal, studio version of the duo’s dream pad, and recorded in front of a live studio audience.’

It is one of several comedy commissioned announced by BBC Three controller Zai Bennett at the Edinburgh International Television Festival.

Another is a six-part series from the company behind The Inbetweeners.

Siblings is about a brother and sister, described as ‘obnoxious, lazy, self-centred, underachieving, incompetent and occasionally depraved’

It is being made by Bwark Productions and is written by Keith Akushie, who previously worked on Fresh Meat.

As previously reported, Jack Whitehall will also be fronting his own talk show Backchat - also featuring his father, Michael, a showbiz agent.

The format, which was first trialled as an Edinburgh Fringe show, will run for four half-hour episodes plus two specials.

Also, 2013 Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Seann Walsh is to host an hour-long Late Night Comedy Spectacular from the Fringe.

The show, made by the BBC’s in-house comedy department, will feature Tom Rosenthal, Aisling Bea and The Rubberbandits.

Bennett also confirmed new series of Bad Education, Cuckoo, Some Girls, Badults and Bluestone 42.
