Kayvan Novak goes undercover...

New sitcom pilot for the BBC

Facejacker star Kayvan Novak is working on another sitcom pilot for the BBC.

In Woody, which is set on a tropical island, he would play an undercover reporter – and master of disguise – on the run from a drug cartel and a cuckolded boss.

The show is being written by Neil Webster, co-founder of Would I Lie To You? producers Zeppotron, and Charlie Skelton, who also worked on the show.

Skelton has some experience of being a journalist being followed, having written a series of humorous articles for the Guardian about trying to cover the notoriously secret meetings of the Bilderberg Group of political and business leaders.

In June, Novak filmed another pilot for BBC One, Homeboys, in which he plays a damp-proofing salesman opposite Inbetweeners actor Blake Harrison.

Woody is the first order from a new independent TV production company called Happy Tramp, which Webster set up with Inbetweeners movie director Ben Palmer. The pair met last year as director and producer of Them From That Thing, a two-part sketch show for Channel 4‘s Funny Fortnight season.

The company also has a number of scripts in development for TV, and is in the early stages of development of a film which Webster is writing with comedy actress Sally Phillips.
