Comedians compete in Celebrity Masterchef

Comedians Katy Brand, Shappi Khorsandi and Adrian Edmondson are to take part in this year’s Celebrity Masterchef.

Also trying to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace will be Fast Show star John Thomson and fellow comic actor Les Dennis.

The line-up is completed by actors Denise Black and Brian Capron , TV presenter Miranda Krestovnikoff; triple jumper Phillips Idowu, cricketer Matthew Hoggard boxer Joe Calzaghe; Ronnie Wood’s ex-wife Jo, singer Heidi Range, rapper Speech Debelle, Boyzone’s Shane Lynch and writer and broadcaster Janet Street-Porter.

The series will run for 18 primetime shows across six weeks on BBC, In each of the first four weeks, four celebrities will compete over a series of challenges – with two of them going home on the Friday. The remaining eight are then whittled down over the final fortnight ndtil the winner is crwoned.

Executive producer Carla-Maria Lawson said: ‘In this series, the contestants' enthusiasm in their pursuit of the MasterChef trophy is palpable, often inspiring and sometimes very, very funny.’

The show's challenges will include catering for Cirque du Soleil and the Harlequins rugby team and serving up meals for restaurant critics.
