NowThe CW network is bringing the show back, along with Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie - all stalwarts of the original US spin-off.

Comedian Aisha Tyler will take over hosting duties from Drew Carey, while a guest improvisers will join the team in each episode of the ten-week run.

The revival, which is set to air in the summer, is being co-produced by UK production company Hat Trick and Angst Productions, the company set up by Whose Line? creators Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson which also makes Mock The Week.

The news was broken by Mochrie, who posted on Twitter: 'Oh, by the way, Whose Line is coming back. More details later.' It was later confirmed by The CW, which targets 18- to 34-year-olds.

Mochrie later added: I 'have 2 months to get young and attractive so I can be on the CW. Hmmm, maybe I should be the sinister neighbour.'

Brady tweeted: 'Whose Line Is back baby! We're going to have some fun and make some sh@t up!'
