New stand-up contest has a £20k pot

A new comedy competition has been launched with one of the biggest prize funds in stand-up.

The winner of the Ha Ha Club Comedian of the Year title takes home £5,000 – but with cash for the winners of heats, regional finals, as well as guaranteed paid work, the total prize pot is more than £20,000.

It is open to acts of every level of experience, while the prizes have been funded by sponsorship from Swedish cider Rekorderlig. Winners of each heat take home £100 and two paid gigs.
