E4 orders prank series from Lee Kern

Spoofing celebs

E4 has commissioned a hidden camera show from comedian Lee Kern.

He has landed a six-part series called Celebrity Bedlam, in which he pranks famous people into talking about phoney issues.

In a similar vein to Chris Morris’s groundbreaking 1997 series Brass Eye, Kern will try to convince celebrities of outlandish claims such as the existence of a bat with human testicles, that Native Americans are culling badgers in Rickmansworth and that the iceberg that hit the Titanic has been discovered near Sri Lanka.

Executive producer Nathan Eastwood said: ‘Lee Kern is a great new talent with brave, mad and hilarious ideas.

‘From convincing celebrities that scientists can understand dolphin language to introducing celebrities to their living clones, Lee's pulled off a brilliant, funny and clever celebrity bashing rollercoaster ride.’

The commission follows last year's one-off The Royal Wedding Crashers, in which Kern spoofed the digital show Gem TV that he was selling a wedding cake soap-on-a-rope, as well as conducting vox pops.

Lee Kern's Celebrity Bedlam, which is being made by Objective Productions, will air over the summer.
