Apollo descends

Audience dip for stand-up show

Live At The Apollo took a dip in the ratings when it returned on Friday.

An audience of three million tuned in to watch the stand-up show return with Micky Flanagan, Seann Walsh and Jason Byrne.

That’s more than 20 per cent down on the average audience for series six, which ran in autumn last year.

It faced competition from the ITV special Susan Boyle (which won the slot with 5.5million viewers) and Derren Brown’s latest extravaganza for Channel 4.

On Saturday, The Making of Life’s Too Short, about Ricky Gervais’s new comedy, failed to make much of an impression in the ratings.

An audience of one million watched the behind-the-scenes show, just over half the average audience BBC Two attracts in that 10.15pm slot.
