T4's Rik Edwards to star in sitcom

Written by Tom Basden

T4 presenter Rick Edwards is to star in a new Channel 4 comedy written by Tom Basden.

The youth TV host plays a version of himself who makes an embarrassing on-air gaffe and has to go on a course in political correctness.

Peter Mitchell, a disabled actor who previously starred in Channel 4's Cast Offs, leads the course – also playing himself.

Miles Jupp and Joe Wilkinson are also due to appear in the pilot of the show, called Rick And Peter, with cameos from Nicholas Parsons and food critic Giles Coren.

Executive producer Jamie Campbell told industry magazine Broadcast: ‘Tom Basden has delivered an A-grade script, and the performances are all we hoped for.’

Channel 4 commissioning editor Nerys Evans added: ‘We're thrilled to be working with Rick and Peter on such a great idea and it's brilliant to see that Rick's a natural comedian - not just a great presenter.’
