Pilot episode for Iannucci's Veep

The Thick Of It is to be remade for an American audience.

HBO has ordered a pilot episode of the new show, called Veep, from creator Armando Iannucci. .

Seinfeld actressJulia Louis-Dreyfus is reportedly in talks to take the central role as Senator Selina Meyer who becomes vice president of the United States and finds the job is ‘nothing like she expected and everything everyone ever warned about.’

Iannucci will write the script alongside his Thick Of It collaborator Simon Blackwell and also direct the show. He is also listed as executive producer alongside Chris Godsick and Frank Rich, the influential New York Times columnist.

The commission follows the success of the Washington-set film In The Loop, a spin-off from The Thick Of It.
