New deal with TalkSport

Russell Brand is to host his first radio show since 2008’s ‘Sachsgate’ scandal.

And is former Radio 2 boss, Lesley Douglas, who left the BBC amid the furore over the rude phone calls, played a key role in brokering the deal with TalkSport

He has signed up for a 20-week Saturday night show, with an ‘uncut’ version available to download on the station’s website.

One of his first guests on the show will be his Sachsgate partner-in-crime Jonathan Ross.

The pair appeared on stage at the Hackney Empire in east London last night for a promotional chat about Brand’s new volume of memoirs, Booky Wook 2, and again apologised for their antics which they said were ‘not deliberately malicious but deliberately stupid’.

Backstage footage from the show will feature on the TalkSport show, while other guests lined up to appear include Brand’s friend Noel Gallagher.
