Carr's lucky 13

Jimmy breaks venue's performance record

Jimmy Carr last night broke the record for the most appearances at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, with his 13th show at the venue.

And he has just announced two more dates there in Apri, where he will be recording next DVD.

Victoria Wood previously held the record, with 12 shows there.

Carr first visited Symphony Hall in 2005 and has since performed to a total audience of more than 25,000. He said: ‘Performances there feel very intimate... I always hear the hecklers in the back row.’

General manager Chris Baldock said: ‘We’ve seen a tremendous growth in comedy performances over the last few years.’
