Co-writer thinks remake has 'gone away'

Plans for a US version of Gavin & Stacey have been shelved, co-writer Ruth Jones believes.

America’s ABC network last year announced that it was developing its own version of the romantic sitcom However, Jones has heard nothing more about the remake and concluded: ‘I think that’s probably gone away.

‘I haven’t heard any more and I think we would have heard something by now,’ she told TV Choice magazine. ‘I always felt if they made one and it was successful, then that’s great, but if they didn’t, it was never going to detract from the British version.’

Jones, who also stars as Nessa, recently confirmed that Gavin & Stacey will return for a special episode.
