Omid back on US TV

Role in newly commissioned sitcom

Omid Djalili is set to appear on prime-time American TV again.

The Anglo-Iranian stand-up has a role in Next, a sitcom based on the life of comic Paul Riser.

According to Hollywood trade magazine Variety, America’s NBC network has just ordered a series of the show, described as being in the vein of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Reiser, who is best known for the long-running sitcom Mad About You wrote the show and will also star in it, when it airs in the autumn/winter season. He is said to play ‘a version of himself, dealing with friendships and relationships’.

Djalili previously had a regular role in Whoopi Goldberg’s short-lived 2003 sitcom, Whoopi, which also aired on NBC.
