More accolades for The Thick Of It

Four new award nominations

The Thick of It has been nominated in four categories at this year’s Broadcasting Press Guild Awards.

Peter Capaldi, who plays terrifying spin doctor Malcolm Tucker, is in the running for best actor; while Rebecca Front, who plays beleaguered Minister Nicola Murray is up for best actress.

The satire is shortlisted for best comedy alongside The Inbetweeners and Outnumbered, and it also earned a nomination for the writers’ award.

Capaldi faces tough competition from David Tennant – nominated for both Doctor Who and Hamlet – David Morrissey and James Nesbitt; while Front is up against Julie Walters, Maxine Peake and Helena Bonham-Carter.

The Broadcasting Press Guild Awards are chosen by journalists who write about TV and radio. They will be handed out at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on March 26.
