The legend of Frank Skinner

Loaded mag crowns its comedy king

Frank Skinner has won the annual ‘comedy legend’ award handed out by lads’ mag Loaded.

He follows in the footsteps of Bruce Forsyth, Leslie Phillips and Harry Enfield in being crowned the Loaded Laftas legend.

Skinner said: ‘I'm very excited about winning the legend award. This puts me in the same Venn diagram as King Arthur.’

Magazine editor Martin Daubney added: ‘Frank Skinner is undoubtedly one of the funniest and most successful comedians Britain has ever produced. Skinner's is a unique mixture of confessional and philosophical humour that appeals to the everyman.’

Skinner will receive his honour in London on Wednesday, when the magazine hands out the rest of its accolades, as voted for by its readers.

X-Factor twins Jedwards, Top Gear host Richard Hammond and Chris Moyles sidekick 'Comedy' Dave Vitty are all up for gongs.

Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh compete for best double act, while Philip Schofield is in the running for ‘funniest Twitterer’.

Meanwhile, real comedians up for awards include Michael McIntyre, Dara O Briain, Jimmy Carr and Harry Hill.
