Kelsey Grammer's new sitcom axed

Kelsey Grammer’s new sitcom Hank has been cancelled by America’s ABC network after just five episodes.

It is the second failure in as many years for the Frasier star, after Back to You was axed last year.

Five more episodes of Hank have been shot, but the network has no plans to air any of them. Repeats of other shows will take over its 8pm Wednesday timeslot immediately.

Hank attracted an average 6.7 million viewers each week, while Modern Family – which airs at 9pm on Wednesdays, as well as on Sky One in the UK – averages more than ten million.
