No more Little Britain series

...but pair will return for specials

There will be no new series of Little Britain because David Walliams and Matt Lucas fear fans are growing sick of them.

However the show will not be ending forever, as the pair say they plan for some one-off specials once they have launched a new project together.

In a new interview on Radio 2, Walliams sparked reports of Little Britain’s demise by saying: ‘It's time to move on and do something else.’

He added: ‘If the show comes back year in year out, it's just probably not special any more.

‘The BBC and HBO both asked us to do more shows but we feel it's time to do something else before people get sick of you. Sometimes you give people what they want too much and they end up sort of not liking it any more.

‘It's important we change the record and do something else creatively… [But] we want to bring Little Britain back as specials.’

The pair are working on a new show for the BBC and HBO, described as a cross between a sketch show and a sitcom, which is expected to air next year.

Only last month, Lucas sent a message to his followers on Twitter, also saying: ‘Despite reports, we have NOT killed off Little Britain. We want to make some specials eventually, but do some other stuff together first!’
