Filming starts on Miller's Huge

Movie set on London comedy circuit

Filming has begun on Ben Miller’s first film – about a quarrelling comedy double act.

Noel Clarke – who played Rose’s boyfriend Mickey in Doctor Who – and Whitechapel actor Johnny Harris lead the cast of Huge, which is being shot on location in London and at Elstree Studios.

Miller co-wrote the script with actor Simon Godley, but has always insisted the argumentative duo is not based on his own experiences with Alexander Armstrong.

The action is largely set in London’s comedy clubs, where the duo are trying to break into the circuit where they are sure their catchphrases will make them huge stars.

Publicity for the film says: ‘It is a journey which takes us to the dark side of comedy, and reveals the startling secret that lurks in the heart of every comedian…’

The cast also includes Thandie Newton, Russell Tovey, Michelle Ryan and Tamsin Egerton.

Miller said: ‘I've dreamt for years of directing a film and now I am directing the film of my dreams. I am literally pinching myself with pliers to be helming such a charabanc of talent on such a rollicking ride.’

Producer Nigel Thomas of Matador Pictures said: ‘As long time fans of his work, we’re thrilled to be involved in Ben’s debut feature. With a terrific script and an exceptional cast, we think that Huge will live up to its title.’
