Kitchen sitcom for Alan Davies

BBC Two pilot filmed

Alan Davies has filmed a new sitcom pilot for BBC Two, in which he plays a celebrity chef.

He is said to have been cast in the lead role of White because of his resemblance to Marco Pierre White – even though the BBC insists the character is not based on the Hell’s Kitchen chef.

Davies plays Roland White, who has grand ambitions for his restaurants but lacks the determination to see hem through.

Saxondale actor Darren Boyd plays his dedicated sous chef Bib, while stand-up Isy Suttie plays a waitress described as ‘a female Manuel’.

The cast also includes The Darling Buds Of May star Pam Ferris and Stephen Wight, recently seen in ITV2’s FM.

Whites was created by Australian comedian Matt King – best known for playing Superhans in Peep Show – and FM writer Oliver Lansley.

The pilot was filmed in Cardiff and made in-house at the BBC.
