Comic lands panel show job
Stand-up Jason Manford is set to receive a huge boost to his profile as he joins a new BBC One panel game.The 28-year-old comic is already a regular on Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats, but his new role as a team captain on the primetime entertainment show As Seen On TV will raise his stock even higher.
Fern Britton will be the opposing captain, in what will be her first job after quitting ITV1’s This Morning, while T4 presenter Steve Jones will host.
Eight half-hour shows will air in early summer, and each week the celebrity teams will answer questions on TV over TV trivia rounds.
Mark Linsey, the BBC’s controller of entertainment, describes the show as ‘a fun and exciting new format’.
He added: ‘With Steve Jones at the helm and Fern and Jason at his side this show will offer telly fans an opportunity to test their TV knowledge along with a wealth of celebrity guests.’
