Simpsons get stamp of approval

US Postal Service to honour cartoon family

The Simpsons are to appear on their own US postage stamps.

Series creator Matt Groening has create the artwork for five 44 cent stamps to mark the show’s 20th anniversary. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie will each feature on their own stamp.

United States Postal Services spokesman Mark Saunders said: ‘The Simpsons are American icons, quite frankly.

‘We're excited about it, and we think America will be, too. It's a great opportunity for us to reach a new generation of stamp enthusiasts.’

The Simpsons is the first primetime show to be given its own series of stamps while it is still on air.

The stamps will be unveiled on the US Postal Services website on April 9, but no date has yet been set for them to go on sale.
