Art and artefacts combined as comic turns curator

Vic Reeves has gone from comedy to curating an exhibition at the Tunbridge Wells Museum.

The comic, and keen artist, will be displaying his own paintings alongside local artefacts at the summer show.

He told the Kent and Sussex Courier: ‘It will be abstract, frightening and very cool. I'm filling the room with six paintings I've done especially for this, which will have a predominant black and white theme.

‘This is a first for me. I have been searching through the bowels of the museum for the exhibition.

‘I will be using a big chair in mid-air and flying from the chair are going to be birds which will be falling and will crash down. At the crash site will be eggs with thousands of beetles around them.

‘All the items will be from the museum, things people haven't seen from the archives store. You will be astonished.’

The show will run from July 4 to August 29.
