Oddie treated for depression

Goodie Bill checks into hospital

Bill Oddie has been admitted to a psychiatric hospital for treatment for depression.

The 67-year-old former Goodie has suffered from the condition for much of his life.

His agent David Foster said: ‘Bill gets these bouts every two or three years where he gets down for about two weeks and recovers.

‘He sometimes goes into hospital or takes a break or has a change of scenery to recharge his batteries.’

Oddie wrote about his depressing in his autobiography published last year. He wrote: ‘While I was writing this book, my brain stopped for a fourth time. I started waking up with those all too familiar feelings of anxiety. Not terrified, but nervous, slightly fearful.’

In January, the bird-loving Oddie announced he was quitting the hit BBC series Springwatch to ‘take a breather and recharge my batteries’.
