Lucas pens Jewish sitcom

Little Britain star mines his past

Matt Lucas is working on a Jewish sitcom.

The Little Britain star told an audience at the West London Synagogue that he wanted to write a comedy based on his experiences growing up in Stanmore, North London.

‘I was fat, bald and worried about my sexuality - so I never really felt accepted by society,’ he said.

Of the show – provisionally titled Four Generations – he added: ‘I want to produce a sitcom that will address many of the contemporary issues that affect British Jews such as intermarriage and a decline in observance.’

It is not known whether Lucas himself would appear in the sitcom, should it make it to the screen.
