Brand cancels tour gigs

Russell laid low by throat infection

Russell Brand has cancelled his tour shows this weekend due to illness.

He pulled his Hammersmith Apollo show last night, and dates in Glasgow tonight and tomorrow.

He was due to perform to 6,000 people at the Clyde Auditorium, but a spokesman said: ‘Russell has a throat infection and, on his doctor's advice, is unable to perform.’

In a statement, Brand apologised to fans, saying: 'I'm in bed, very confused, at the specialist's insistence.

'I'm alone - except for the cat, who I'm thinking of putting a bikini on - it must be the fever.'

The shows have now been rescheduled for April 9, 10 and 11– or ticketholders can get a refund from the original point of purchase.

The tour called Scandalous, largely concentrates on the fallout from his prank calls to Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs.
