Four gets festive

Comics head C4 Xmas line-up

Russell Brand, Peter Kay and Alan Carr have all been given Christmas specials by Channel 4, the station confirmed today.

Heading its comedy line-up is Kay’s reprisal of his spoof reality show, with a follow-up called Britain's Got An Extra Pop Factor And Then Some 2 + 1.

The show, presented by Ben Shephard, will be presented as a retrospective of the fictional series. It will also help Kay’s chances to have a Christmas hit, by featuring the first play of his festive music video in the guise of contest winner Geraldine McQueen.

Meanwhile, Brand will be fronting a festive edition of Ponderland, contemplating the concept of Santa, Yuletide overindulgence and Saxon celebrations, among other things.

Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr will present The Friday Night Christmas Project, with guest host Simon Pegg while Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong also returns for a special with the teams of celebrities dressing as panto ‘goodies’ and ‘baddies’.

Other programmes include a televised version of Derren Brown’s recent stage show Evening Of Wonders, and Charlotte Church’s Nutcracking Christmas Special, with guests including Ronnie Corbett and Gavin and Stacey’s James Corden and Ruth Jones.
