Jim comes fourth in Last Comic Standing

British stand-up Jim Tavare has come fourth in American reality show Last Comic Standing.

The 45-year-old made it through to the final last night, the furthest any British comedian has ever got in the competition’s six series.

But he was the second of five finalists to be eliminated from the NBC show, following Louis Ramey. Jeff Dye and Marcus were then voted out, making Iliza Shlesinger the first female winner of Last Comic Standing.

Before the results were revealed, the 25-year-old from Dallas, said: ‘It feels amazing to just be here and be able to share my jokes with the world. It's not so much about being a girl, it's about being a funny comic.'

Tavare will now begin a national tour of more than 60 dates across teh US with the rest of the five finalists, beginning on August 29.
