Loads of comedians join Icklewick FM

Radio 4 comedy returns this month

A host of comedy talent is joining the cast of Radio 4’s surreal improvised comedy Icklewick FM for its second series.

The show, created by the Delightful Sausage duo of Chris Cantrill and Amy Gledhill returns at the end of this month.

Joining the cast in guest roles are: Vicki  Pepperdine, Tom Lawrinson, Sharon Wanjohi, Paddy Young, Henry Packer, Rachel Fairburn, Jin Hao Li, Molly McGuinness, Darren J Coles, Joe Kent-Walters and James Carbutt, co-creator of comedy video game Thank Goodness You’re Here

Icklewick FM, which also stars its creators, revolves around a dysfunctional community radio station and the dysfunctional community it serves.

Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Gledhill said: ‘We can’t wait to finally unleash these six  episodes. It’s bigger, bolder and way madder than series one’. Co-creator Cantrill added: ‘I can’t believe some of the stuff we got away with.’

Radio 4 comedy commissioner Julia McKenzie said: ‘Bursting with a host of unhinged characters, a tonne of fresh comic ideas and a clear indication  that medical intervention may be necessary, this show has already got a cult-like status amongst its  fans, and I am very proud of it. I can’t wait for series two to land – let the chaos commence!’

Alongside the new cast, Mark Silcox returns as Mr Patel, Colin Holt as  roving reporter Simon Toke, Lucy Beaumont as concerned mum Sharon L’Beech, Phil Ellis as Stanley Power who has unexpectedly found himself as Icklewick’s new mayor and  Janice Connolly  as chief hotline botherer Pat Moore. There are also return performances from Jen Brister  and Shivani Thussu.

Icklewick FM is produced by Benjamin Sutton and Laura Shaw for Daddy's  Superyacht Productions. The series will be available as a box set on BBC Sounds from Friday August 29 and air at 11pm on Saturdays, starting on the 30th
