Kojo joins showcase gigs

Kojo has become the first British comedian join the Def Comedy Jam tour.

The label has been showcasing black comedians on America’s HBO network since 1991, helping launch the careers of Dave Chapelle and Chris Tucker, among others.

Last year Gina Yashere become the first British act to appear on the TV show; now East Londoner Kojo will become the first to appear on the associated live tour.

He will be joining US comics Patrice O'Neal, Capone and Tony Roberts on the brief UK leg of the tour which visits Manchester, Birmingham and London next month. For tickets, click here.

Russell Simmons, the entrepreneur behind Def Comedy Jam, said: ‘The comedians we're bringing to London are my favorite. I promise you, they will blow the house down.’

MTV Base star Kojo has won several Black Entertainment Comedy Awards, and recently appeared in NBC reality TV show Last Comic Standing. Here he is in action.
