Judd Apatow takes new title
Judd Apatow, the producer of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up has been named Comedy Person of the Year.He will receive his accolade at the Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal this summer.
Festival boss Bruce Hills said: ‘We are very proud to honour someone who started his career in stand-up and has become one of the most important and dynamic forces in comedy.
‘This is the first time we have given out this award and Judd is the ideal choice because he embodies the many talents that have made him one of the most successful comedy filmmakers.’
Apatow, who was a writer and producer on The Larry Sanders Show, is also the producer of Russell Brand’s new movie, Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
He will be honoured at an industry conference, called Just Comedy, a new part of the festival’s programming. Just For Laughs runs from July 10 to 20.
