Chapelle breaks his stand-up record

Club set lasts 6hrs 12min

Dave Chappelle has broken his own record for a comedy club set, performing for six hours and 12 minutes.

He already held the record for the longest performance the Laugh Factory in Hollywood had ever hosted, and Sunday’s performance stretched it by five minutes.

‘Dave was determined to keep his record because he recently heard that Dane Cook was planning on trying to break it,’ said club owner Jamie Masada.

Cook held the record of 3hrs 50min for a few days in April, before 34-year-old Chappelle shattered it, surprising unusupecting punters by taking to the stage just after 10:30pm and not leaving until 4:43am.

Before that, Richard Pryor held the record for 27 years, at a relatively modest 2hrs 41min.
