Harry Hill's TV Burp, The Catherine Tate Show, My Family and Ugly Betty have been nominated for best comedy in the National Television Awards.The shortlist was drawn up from more than 1.5 million votes gathered over the summer.
And the final winner – who will be announced at London’s Roya;l Albert Hall on October 31, is also chosen by viewers who have their say at nationaltvawards.com. 8 Out Of 10 Cats is in the running for best entertainment programme, alongside Deal Or No Deal, An Audience With Take That, Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and Friday Night With Jonathan Ross. Host Sir Trevor McDonald said: ‘It has been a controversial year for the industry, but the awards are a celebration of TV at its most popular. The variety of nominees shows the remarkable range of the programmes we all watch.’
