Stand-up comes to iTunes

Apple offers TV comedy shows to download

Apple’s iTunes store has started offering TV shows, including South Park and scores of stand-up shows.

Jongleurs Unleashed, The World Stands Up and Comedy Blue are available for £1.89 each 22-minute episode after Apple signed a deal to offer them to British customers.

The shows can be viewed on a PC or Mac, through an iPod or on television using the Apple TV set-top box.

Other programmes on offer following Apple’s new agreements with broadcasters such as Paramount Comedy and ABC include Lost, Desperate Housewives, That 70s Show and Ugly Betty.

The move comes as several major players move into the digital download market, including Channel 4 and Sky, and follows the success of iTunes TV downloads in the States.

Apple’s Eddie Cue said: ‘We are thrilled to bring TV programming to the iTunes store in the UK. We have got 28 shows and expect to continue to add more great programming.’
