Conchords keep flying

HBO orders second series

New Zealand folk parodists Flight Of The Concords have secured a second series of their American TV show.

The HBO network today announced that the show, which stars Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, will return in 2008.

It also announced that Entourage, the Hollywood-set comedy, will return for a fifth series, as widely expected.

Entoruage is one of the broadcaster’s biggest hits, but Conchords, which also stars comics Rhys Darby and Kirsten Schaal, still remains a cult show, attracting audiences of around a million.

HBO Entertainment president Carolyn Strauss said: ‘Entourage is a fully-fledged cultural phenomenon, and Flight Of The Conchords has quickly become a show to watch.

‘I'm delighted that we'll be bringing new seasons of these distinctive series to our subscribers.’

Entourage and Conchords run back to back on Sunday nights in the States, and will both end their current runs on September 2.

A Conchords EP titled The Distant Future was also released in the US earlier this month, and it will be will followed up with a full-length album in January.
