UKTV Gold buys hit US sitcom
Acclaimed American sitcom The New Adventures Of Old Christine has been bought by UKTV Gold.
The show, which stars Seinfeld’s Julia Louis-Deyfuss, is the first foreign comedy the channel has bought.
It follows a divorced mum, whose ex has married a younger woman with the same name, as she struggles to keep pace with those around her.
The series launched on CBS this year and has already been commissioned for a second series. Last month, Louis-Deyfuss won the Emmy award for best comedy actress for her role in the show.
UKTV Gold head James Newton said: ‘It’s already a huge hit in the US and I think it’s a stronger offering than most of the comedies showcased at this summer’s LA screenings.’
