Pegg loses friends

Simon to star in film of bestseller

Simon Pegg is to star in a film adaptation of the bestseller How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.

Toby Young's book chronicled his disastrous time as a contributing editor at Vanity Fair in New York, covering his hapless attempts to rub shoulders with celebrities and painted an unappealing picture of his editor-in-chief Graydon Carter.

All names have been changed for the purposes of the movie - Vanity Fair becomes Sharps magazine, for example, and Pegg’s character will be called layton Harding

Curb Your Enthusiasm's Robert Weide will direct from Peter Straughan's script.

Shooting is set to start in New York and the UK from next spring.

Last month, it was also announced that Pegg will star in the romantic comedy, Run, Fat Boy, Run to be directed by Friends star David Schwimmer.
