Comic faces drug probe

Craig Charles has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug.

The Red Dwarf star, who now appears in Coronation Street, was arrested in London last night.

He was questioned by police and then released on bail until September while more inquiries are carried out.

In June, the Daily Mirror published photographs  of the 42-year-old comic, which apparently showed him smoking crack cocaine in the back of a car during a journey from London to Manchester.

Her was suspended from his soap following the allegations.

The married father-of-three spent several months in prison in 1994 awaiting trial on a rape charge but was cleared in February 1995.
