Over the Moon

Demetri lands movie deal

Demetri Martin has landed a major film deal.

Columbia Pictures has bought his idea for Moon People, a movie about a small group of people who return to Earth years after they were sent to colonise the moon.

The movie was pitched as a starring vehicle for the Perrier-winning comedian.

James Bobin, a writer-director on Da Ali G Show, has been attached to direct the comedy.

It’s the second movie deal this year for Martin, who previously sold his pitch Will – about a man who decides to live a less ordinary life - to DreamWorks.

Martin has previously written for US TV shows Late Night With Conan O'Brien and The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.
