Two comics land travelogue shows

Victoria Wood and Shanjeev Bhaskar are both making travelogue series for the BBC.

Wood will be visiting places across the world that share her name – or rather that of Queen Victoria.

She has already visited Lake Victoria in Uganda, according to trade magazine Broadcast, with undisclosed other locations already on her itinerary.

Her travels will be made into three-hour long shows for BBC One, due to be aired next year.

Meanwhile, Kumars star Bhaskar has been touring India for a BBC Two series about the country’s 60 years of independence.

He will interview figures from the world of sport, Bollywood and politics as well as ordinary Indians.

Four hour-long shows will go out on BBC Two next year, around the time of the 60th anniversary itself, August 15.

The show is described as a Michael Palin-style travelogue, which could be significant as the ex-Python has previously signalled his intention to stop globe-trotting – and the BBC may well be on the lookout for a replacement from the world of comedy.
