Evans: I've only ever slept with my wife
Many men become comics to attract women – but Lee Evans has revealed that his wife Heather is the only woman he has ever slept with.
The couple met 25 years ago, when Evans was 16, and he said: ‘Even then I knew she was the one, no question.’
He first saw her as she passed on a bus. ‘She was crying,’ he said. ‘I found out later it was because her mum was dying of cancer.
‘About a week later I saw her at a concert. Three years later, we married.
‘I know it's corny but I can't imagine how I would survive without Heather. In fact, I know I couldn't.’
In his interview with the Sunday Mirror, Evans, 41, also repeated his insecurities about his comedy.
‘It's weird standing up there, because I don't think I'm funny at all - just an idiot," he said.
‘I am surprised so many people turn up, especially when there's so much more to do. After all it's just comedy - it's not that important."
‘I think I keep working so much because I'm not a confident person The thing is, I don't want to let anyone down - not just the audience, but also my friends who have had faith in me over the years.’
