It's Peter Gay

Phoenix Nights star is a queer icon

Peter Kay has become a gay icon.

The comic has been nominated in a poll for Bent magazine – and this week made an unnounced guest appearance at Manchester's Homisexual club night.

Publisher Terry George old The Mirror: "He was outrageously camp and looked relaxed as he performed to a full house.

"Peter is in touch with his gay fans and they absolutely loved his act. He DJed for about half an hour.”

Meanwhile, Kay has teamed up with Seventies singer Tony Christie to record the theme tune for, Max and Paddy, the spin-off Channel 4 series from Phoenix Nights.
