Awards are a joke

Jordan and Jodie Marsh on comedy shortlist

Peter Kay, Ricky Gervais and Jimmy Carr have been nominated for this year’s Lafta comedy awards organised by Loaded magazine.

But, then again, so have Jodie Marsh, Peter Andre, Big Brother contestant Victor and orange-skinned antiques expert David Dickinson.

Kay and Gervais go head-to-head in two categories: best stand-up and funniest person.

Also up for best stand-up are Carr,  Dave Gorman and Ross Noble; while their rivals for funniest person are Avid Merrion, Johnny Vegas and The Office’s Lucy Davis.

And in best double act, real comics Matt Lucas and David Walliams and Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer find themselves up against unlikely duos Richard and Judy and Peter Andre and Jordan. Ant and Dec are also on the shortlist

The awards, voted on by readers of the lads’ mag, are announced at a celebrity bash in central London on December 1.
