A Wright laugh

Ian joins They Think It's All Over

Ian Wright is to become the new team captain on They Think It's All Over.

The former footballer will replace his old Arsenal team-mate David Seaman when the show returns to BBC1 this autumn.

He said: "I can't wait to join the team. Having been a guest on the show, it's familiar turf and I know what antics and fun are in store for me.

"Jonathan Ross better watch out if he thinks he's going to keep hold of the limelight all of the time."

Producer Jim Pullin added: "Ian's been a huge hit when he's been on the show before so it'll be great to have him appearing every week.

"He's one of those unique performers who you just point a camera at and this huge burst of energy goes right down the lens."

All the other regulars – Ross, Phil Tufnell, Rory McGrath and host Nick Hancock – will return with the new series.
