Clapton with a Kay

Peter hijacks Slowhand's gig

Peter Kay has hijacked an Eric Clapton gig, literally stealing the show.

Fans expecting to see the guitar legend's Manchester concert on Thursday were surprised when the Phoenix Nights star wandered on stage instead, guitar slung over his shoulder.

The comic told the sell-out crowd at the MEN Arena: "Eric's in Gregg's having a meal deal, so you don't mind if I fill in."

He then led the audience into a chorus of Manfred Mann's Doo Wah Diddy.

Kay later introduced Clapton who, he said, had 'been like a father to me for the last 25 minutes'.
