Stand-up contest for Christians

Another new hunt has been launched for the best new comedians in Britain - but this time only Christians need aplly.

The rules of the contest might prove a challenge for most stand-ups, as the rules decree applicants must "make an audience laugh in a good wholesome Christian way".

That means swearing, sexual innuendo, promotion of drug use or material that is "inconsistent with acceptable Biblical behaviour" are all out.

The winner of the Seed Card Christian comedian of the year title will receive £2,000, with two runners-up receiving £500.

Eight heats will run throughout May and June , starting off at the the Christian Resources Exhibition in Sandown Park, Surrey.

The final will take place at the Jongleurs Comedy Club in London and be televised for American TV.

Sponsors Seed Card is an American-based financial institution specialising in Christian businesses.
