Banzai bounces back

Axed US series is resurrected

The American version of Banzai has found a new home after the Fox network dropped it mid-series.

Only six of the ten episodes filmed in the States were shown last summer, but now the Comedy Central cable channel is to air the full run.

It has also bought the right to make new episodes of the spoof Japanese gameshow if it proves a success in its Thursday-night slot.

Stephen Lambert, of British-based producers RDF, told Hollywood trade journal Variety: "I think Comedy Central in many ways in the best possible home for it.

"In the UK, it's a show that really pushes the envelope in terms of outrageousness and what it can show. I believe this network will be more comfortable with the cutting-edge and risky nature of the series."
